A spectacular and truly unique work made from embroidered fabric with 13 ornamental metal (likely copper) heads representing various Tibetan figures attached (these heads appear to be from the khatvanga ritual staff – the Buddhist ceremonial staff which was held only by advanced practitioner monks during sacred ceremonies. The heads apparently represent the three poisons of lust, hate, and delusion). We have not seen another piece quite like it.
Per the attached tag that was on it when we acquired it, the piece dates back to the 18th century.
Rare and unique overall.
Would make for a fantastic addition to any Asian or Tibetan art or artifacts collection or a wonderful stand-alone accent piece when properly displayed on a wall in virtually any setting.
