Probably one of the most beautiful batik textile designs from Indonesia, the wraparound skirt also known as Kain Panjang was an iconic design from Cirebon, North Coast of Java. The Cloud design is called Megamendung in local language and it demands a lengthy process of hand-drawing, waxing dying and re-dying until the right colors were achieved. This piece, circa 1950s, is particularly rare because on the background of the clouds, there are also six winged dragons, adding to the complexity to the design and rendering it a very desirable piece for collector.
