A large traditional hand-painted folk art basket with a lid. This piece is quite large and would be great displayed on a deep shelf, coffee table, or entry table. The basket is round and in two pieces, with the lid on top of equal size to the bottom. The entire vessel is decorated with a hand-painted dot pattern in a variety of colors, on a black background. It is made of a woven wicker-type material and features a woven handle at the top. The basket opens to reveal a solid black interior. Though we are unsure of the origin of the basket, we assume it is tribal in nature and either from Africa or a Southeast Asian area.
