The lamp is equipped with a swivel filter cap. Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck, Austria, but soon moved to Italy. Here he became a designer, architect, and businessman. He founded the Memphis Group in 1981, challenging the mainstream design. Many collaborations with well-known design companies followed, such as Alessi, Olivetti, and Artemide. Ettore Sottsass is still known for his designs such as the Elea 9003 calculator and the Valentine typewriter designed in 1961.
