This type of mask is used at Indonesian Topeng or Mask theater dances, where traditional stories of nobles, kings, princes, warriors and demons are performed by masked actors, each mask representing a character and the actor dances to tell the story of such character through corporal expression.
The red masks usually represent evil characters, with exaggerated noses, tough features and large teeth.
