4-Color Plangi and Tritik Silk Shawl, Palembang, Sumatra.
A rectangular lightweight silk textile with decoration by means of plangi (rainbow tie-dye) and tritik (stitched and gathered resist) processes in orange, green and blue on an over-dyed magenta ground in floral designs, geometric forms and six boteh shapes in a row on either end with zigzag patterns as the border bands. The edges couched in a braided metallic bullion trim with the two ends having fringe.
Condition: One repair, some stains, pinholes otherwise fine.
