Tibetan Yuran rug, first half of the 20th century characterized by a multicolored field.
Fleece in wool, warp and weft in cotton. Thickness: 10 mm. Hand knotted in Tibet circa 1960 with a striped pattern with shades of blue, light blue, beige and brown. These carpets, so particular and rare, are called meditation rugs, the apparent confusion of the decoration is nothing but the expression of the sensibility of the knotter. The use of these rugs is purely contemplative and allows the observer’s soul to expand. Often used by the monks for their religious services.
