1900s Leaded Glass Tudor Encasement Double Windows 8 Panes Each

These encasement windows are from a Tudor estate originating from the early 1900’s. They have an industrial steel frame with 8 panes of leaded glass on each side with all hardware intact as pictured. The hardware includes original bronze hand cranks and locks. These double encasement windows come complete with the wooden jamb. An item consists of one right and one left window with all hardware intact as pictured. Priced each. This can be seen at our 400 Gilligan St location in Scranton, PA. Measures: 40″ x 48″.

English Tudor Rose Wrought Iron and Brass Firescreen and Andirons Set – 1700’s

The rose is a common device in heraldry. It is often used both as a charge on a coat of arms and by itself as an heraldic badge. The heraldic rose has a stylized form consisting of five symmetrical lobes, five barbs, and a circular seed. The rose is one of the most common plant symbols in heraldry, together with the lily, which also has a stylistic representation in the fleur-de-lis.

The rose was the symbol of the English Tudor dynasty, and the ten-petaled Tudor rose is associated with England. Roses also feature prominently in the arms of the princely House of Lippe and on the seal of Martin Luther.

A composition stone wall plaque with arched top depicting the botanist and gardener, John Tradescant the Younger, standing in 17th-century dress with a spade in his proper left hand and a shovel in his proper right, by contemporary maker, Haddonstone.

John Tradescant the Younger (1608-1662) was an English horticulturist who journeyed to Virginia several times between 1628 and 1637 to collect specimens to bring back to England. He introduced American trees such as magnolia, bald cypress, and tulip to English gardens, along with plants including phlox and asters.
