Contemporary Raku ceramic tribal mask with antlers by Argon
A raku fired ceramic mask by the artist Argon, purchased in the 1980s at Galleria de la Raza in San Francisco. The expression is one of wonder, with pupils of African trade beads and curly copper wire hair scattered about the face. The crack from the raku firing frames the left eye beautifully and is further integrated into the facial structure. The antlers are actual bone from a small animal.
