A striking 20th century Shoowa Kuba cloth panel with a fantastic all-over interlocking meandering hook and knot pattern woven in black and natural flat-weave and cut pile raffia. Kuba cloths are constructed of fine strips of raffia, knotted and cut, creating beautiful geometric patterns. Sometimes panels are stitched together to create long dance skirts worn by men during various ceremonies.
